Here are a few... Okay a TON of pictures from our San Diego trip. We got to tag along with Bryce while he was working and had a lot, a LOT of fun. The boys and I got to play while Bryce worked, we missed him, but I was very proud of myself for bravely navigating a big city all on my own... (With my GPS of course! I couldn't have done it without that!)
On Wednesday we drove the whole way there. The boys did absolutely amazing in the car! 11 hours and absolutely no crying... Come to think of it, I don't think that even happens at home very often! Since we were in Bryce's work car, we really couldn't eat anything messy, so we stopped at a park in St. George to eat our muffins.
On Thursday we decided to go on a hike that as pretty close to our hotel. We packed a lunch and Bryce dropped us off. It was a place called Daley Ranch. It was only about a mile in, but it sure took us a long time at the speed of a 2 year old. :)
The boys entertained themselves for a long time with this rusty old pipe we found up there.
On Friday we spent the day at Balboa Park, and then before we went home we went to La Jolla beach.
Here are the boys ready to go in the morning with their "beach hats" on.
Jason and Tyler loved this cool dragon thing to climb on at Balboa Park.
Jason LOVED the ocean.
This is what Tyler thought of it after the wave knocked him down into the water.
There were all sorts of cool black birds and sea lions all over the place at La Jolla Beach. It was really fun to watch. We saw people out swimming with the sea lions and Jason really wished I had his swimming suit and life jacket so he could do it too.
It was low tide so we got to see some hermit crabs in the tide pools.
On Saturday we went to the Chula Vista Nature Center. It was a mini aquarium with sea turtles, sharks and sting rays, all sorts of fish, bald and golden eagles. The boys loved it. Our favorites were the short walk to the bay and feeding time. The sting rays were awesome to watch.
Jas found a TON of shells at this beach. I only let him take a few home though.
A pelican. I love pelicans.
Back at the hotel we pretty much only saw Bryce for bed time. My boys sure love their Daddy!
Jason, Tyler, and I got to enjoy the pool, beautiful grounds with lots of fountains for the boys to admire. Tyler would always walk up to the fountain, look in, and say, "That's cool." The hotel gave free drinks to our boys and they loved that. Sunday morning we got our free drinks and walked around the grounds until my friend Ashley came to pick us up! It sure was fun to see Ashley again! Sadly, I didn't get any pictures with her! I don't know what I was thinking.
After Bryce got done working he met us at Old Town. Then from there we took Bryce to La Jolla Beach. Ashley and KC had never been there, and Jason really wanted to go again. The ocean was crazy this day, much more aggressive than the first time we were there. Jason and I got soaked by a wave that came in and splashed us!
KC taught Jason that holding hermit crabs is fun. I'm glad my kids get to have some influence from men once in a while. I'm afraid I would have never thought of picking them up.... They just look like little spiders in a shell to me.
Poor Bryce was in his suit still, so he didn't do much exploring with the rest of us. But Tyler kept him company up there... Isn't this a great picture?
On Monday we walked from our hotel to the USS Midway. It is a retired aircraft carrier that is now a museum. Bryce loved it. We got our own personal tour from a man who works there, who actually served on the Midway when she was in commission. It was actually quite interesting.
The boys favorite part was playing in the helicopter and airplane cockpits and exploring the planes they allowed us to go into.
They also thought this statue was fun.
After we were done there we started our long drive home. We got to stop in Las Vegas and meet up with my cousin and her family for dinner, which was really nice. We ate at Cici's Pizza, and it was just perfect. Good food and the kids could go play in the arcade for a bit. Even without tokens, they had a lot of fun. We made it home around 2 in the morning. What a fun trip. I am so glad Bryce let us tag along!
