This morning as I was heading down to the basement to put some clothes down there, I heard some "cheaps" coming from the window. I went over to look and one of the baby Robins had fallen down into our window well. I showed it Jason and Tyler and they both wanted to help get it out.
So I sent Jason down with some gloves to rescue the little birdie.
This is the closest he came to it. He said he was scared and that he wanted me to do it.
Tyler wanted to help, so I let him put on some of my garden gloves. But I didn't let him go down the window well. He had to wait up top while I went down to get the darn thing.
The poor thing was scared to death. It kept trying to fly out but would only get about a foot off the ground and then drop down again. As I was getting it out it started squawking a lot and that got mama bird all riled up. I got it out and put it on the ground. It started running around and then as I was climbing out it jumped back down into the window well again. (It was being very difficult.)
Here is Mama Bird squawking at us from the tree. Freaking out cuz we were "attacking" her little baby.
I finally got it out again and it started hopping across the grass. Right out into the road!
This is Daddy bird (yep, both Mama and Dad were pretty worked up about the whole ordeal.)
And here is my neighbor helping us. She wasn't scared to hold it (like I was) so she held it while we got a latter to put it back in it's nest. I actually hate this picture because you can just see the panic on the little birds face as it flops to get out of her hands... Poor bird.

Oh! Why can't animals understand when we have good intentions on their behalf? This is the first year when we have not had a nest in our front yard and every year one of the chicks gets blown out of its nest and we try to save it only to find it dead somewhere else in our yard a few days later, I hate it. I love having the birds and the nests close, but I am kinda relieved that they didn't try our trees again this year.
Way to go being the hero - Jared has always been the one to rescue the birds at our house. :)
