Once at the lake we were getting the boat ready to put in the water and it started pouring. So we sat in the car a minute to wait it out. After about 5-10 minutes we decided to give it a try. I backed the boat into the water (my second time ever-- well third if you count my sad attempt last year) and off we were.
Bryce turned to me as said, "Do you want to get in first or should I?" The deal was that I would ski if it were sunny. Hmmm, not sunny.
So Bryce being the gentleman that he is got in first. (I'm being serious, once you get out it is freezing, especially with no sun, so he really was being nice.) I took pictures while he was skiing. I didn't get any wonderful ones, but here are a couple.
He's so good; he makes it look easy. But I don't think it's easy...
Notice that dark sky!
The boys liked watching Daddy ski.
After skiing he decided he wanted to try our knee board. He messed around on that for a bit and then I was ready to head back to shore... You can't blame me when every time I looked over my shoulder to see him, I also saw lighting in the sky!
Jason was cold and wanted to go home so we headed back to the dock. Once we got up to the no-wake zone it stopped raining... Although the sky was still dark.
So I turned around and decided to try wakeboarding! I've never been on a wakeboard before, but I thought it might be fun to try and I found one at a yard sale for $10, so I snagged it. For not knowing anything about wakeboards, I lucked out. It is a girls wakeboard and the binding are small. Which means, just my size! Sadly though, not Bryce's size.
Anyway, so I popped out of the water on my first try and then said, "Well now what do I do!" I was so concerned about getting up that I didn't know what to do once I was up. :) Needless to say, I didn't stay up very long. That time, or the next.
Well it was raining and the lake was really choppy. And I didn't know how to stay in the wake. I always ended up on the left side of the boat. So after 4 times up and riding for a bit, I wanted to try again when the water was a little calmer so I could focus on learning how to control the thing rather that not getting dumped by the bumps. :)
As I was getting my wet suit off, Bryce looked at me and said, "Your hair is sure funny. It's sticking straight up." I laughed and smoothed it back down. But it popped right back up. O crap. That made us a little nervous. I was just waiting to get struck by lightning! But we made it back to the dock with no such bad luck.
I was very cold and shivering as we got the boat ready to go, but I really did have a good time. My husband is crazy! And I'm very glad we didn't get hit by lightning.
